EFT is brilliantly placed to be able to deal with that perceived need and therefore undermine the decision process that takes place when we choose to smoke. It will deal with the immediate cravings for a cigarette and it also deal with any emotional drivers behind the need to smoke. Using EFT combined with a technique to bring your smoking habit back into conscious behaviour, it's possible to let go of what drives your smoking habit and develop healthier ways to deal with whatever stresses life throws at you.
There are many reasons why someone may decide to start smoking. Sometimes it's because everyone else is doing it, sometimes it's stress, perhaps you grew up in a smokers household. The problem is that once you really get into the habit of smoking, it can seem hard to stop. Smoking undermines our trust in our own strengths. It weaves it's magic in our minds and convinces us that we need it to relax, be calm, think clearly, deal with stress and so on.
I used to smoke 20+ a day and I know that it becomes the centre piece of one's life if you do smoke. When you smoke, everything you do, you do as a smoker. Think about it. Before the smoking ban was in place, an awful lot of your activities contained smoking or were designed around smoking in break times. You ate and drank socially where you could smoke. Now smokers have to stand outside, away from the social group to smoke. Obviously most of your lifestyle will be impacted by quitting. But now the smoking ban in England has come into force, your life style will already be impacted. Perhaps now is as good a time as any to consider stopping once and for all.
If you are looking for an example of emotional behaviour, it's smoking. It makes no logical sense but it does fulfil a perceived need, so it's an emotional choice on many levels. Some people won't give it up if it's suggested simply because they see it as bowing to the will of others. Once smoking is learned, it quickly becomes a subconscious behaviour as the mind tries to help the smoker to feel better by suggesting a cigarette periodically. The subconscious mind is designed to protect us but it will often take any short term gain over any long term problems that may arise from a decision.
